KRYSTYNA K. GRANEK
February 25, 1950 – August 28, 2019
Krystyna K. Granek, 69, ended her five year battle with breast cancer, dying peacefully surrounded by her children and close friends at Plantation General Hospital on August 28th, 2019. Krystyna was a brave and strong fighter, a devoted mother and friend, talented gymnast and acrobat, with a passion for natural healing. Krystyna was a devoted wife of 29 years to Peter Granek (1945-2000). She was predeceased by her son-in-law Vinny and survived by her brothers John Moore (Kate) and Frank Braun (Ula), her son Maciej “Mac”, her twin daughters Zefiryna “Zefi” (Louie), Dorota “Dorothy”, her three grandchildren Peter, Antonio, Giovanni, her niece, nephews, and a multitude of friends.
Born in Warsaw, Poland on February 25th, 1950, she was the only daughter to Franciszek and Zefira Zbienewski. She was a gymnast, acrobat and sports champion, meeting and marrying (1971) her husband while working with Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus. They traveled the world while with the circus, starting a family in Poland, returning to circus life before emigrating to America and finally settling down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1986. She was a wife, mother, homemaker, business partner, and manager of Granek’s Granite in Plantation. She supported the Polish community through her and Peter’s award winning business and while working as a bookkeeper at the Polish American Club. After her husband’s passing, she devoted her life to natural healing, working as a home health aide, helping her friends with homeopathic therapies and continuing to keep in touch with a multitude of friends in the Polish community. She was a devoted grandmother, filled with energy, independence, persistence, a great sense of humor and a can do attitude. She was a helping hand to many, with a quick wit and a big heart. She is truly loved and missed.
