In its simplest definition, cremation is the reduction of the human body to bone fragments through the use of heat or thermal energy. The fact that cremations continue to grow in preference over traditional funeral burials is an indication that society is becoming more conscious about the handling of their loved one’s remains. When incorporated by the financial savings obtained over traditional funerals, it is easy to see why cremations continue to rise in preference.

Although cremations did not generally become more widely accepted until after the mid 1900s, it has steadily increased ever since. Cremations are environmentally friendly when compared to traditional burials.
